We need your help
While we have been able to provide some amazing programs, we will not be able to provide summer art bike programs this summer without your help. Art 120 appreciates any donations you may be able to provide for our programs that provide so much for urban youth.
Urban Art bike workshops benefit our community by:
Introducing engineering and design concepts to our youth today provide better employment opportunities for their future.
Providing public opportunities to showcase their work and connect with the community.
Empowering our youth by giving them an opportunity to create something of their own and take pride in it.
Results
In the surveys we conducted from our 2011 urban art bike workshops, the outcomes exceeded expectations. Students commented that they did not expect to actually build the bike, but just decorate one. 100% of Students noted that they learned new skills such as using power tools, presenting their concepts in front of their peers, as well as using math and engineering skills to fabricate their concept into a moving sculpture (Measuring and cutting steel beams). When asked if they would like to see a program like this in their school, they all said “yes”. Parents also remarked on how our workshops have boosted their child’s self-confidence. One student wrote that the one new thing she learned that would help her in school is, “That if I try, I can accomplish anything.”
